Ilion, N.Y. - First-graders at Remington Elementary School had the opportunity to visit China, Brazil and Mexico during their class on Monday morning.
The total trip only took about three hours.
The journey was a part of the first grade students latest reading unit, entitled “Journeys.”
“This event was the culmination of the unit and the students were really excited about this journey,” first-grade teacher Gina Scaparo said.
The reading unit taught the students about traveling around New York City and Washington D.C. They also followed the journey of one man, Captain Bill Pinkney, as he sailed around the world.
Each teacher, Scaparo, Kim Vitale and Brittani Wesolowski, chose a country to study and then transformed their classrooms into those countries using decorations.
Vitale chose Brazil and decorated her classroom as a rainforest to give students a chance to further study the rainforest.
